We are Land Rich are you serious. While I love the simplicity and the idea... i can't believe people aren't making this kind of thing themselves. It is so easy and so cheap.

Quick Office Project: Cook For Kids Sign up Poster

Periscope has been "cooking for kids" at the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery Center for about 3 years. It is a lot of fun. We get to not only cook, but serve and play with the children. The nursery is a safe place for both parent and child. You can organize a group or your office to cook too... here is how.

cookforkidsposter

Here is the sign-up sheet I created quickly. I was inspired by all the vintage Betty Crocker cookbooks I love so much. The sign-up poster needed to be decorative in our office environment. Hopefully it will grab my co-workers attention and maybe make the great choice to volunteer an evening in 2010.

Personally, I am taking a break from volunteering with the nursery. While I love what they are doing for Minneapolis, am starting new goals for 2010 and maybe trying some new places to volunteer. I think I will miss seeing the kids.

Vick's Nyquil Ads: For a Better Looking Tomorrow

NyquilAds

Photographer: Tony Dorio
Advertising Agency: ? Not sure. It is a P&G product and they farm out and keep a lot of work internally. So it is hard to know who did what. Hopefully i can find out soon. This campaign is on of my favorites of 2009.

Not only is it honest but it is not a company talking at me when I'm sick. They get how I feel and understand my misery.

My 2010 Solutions

approaching the end of the year has me thinking of all the things i accomplished, didn't get to, failed and want to do next year.

it seems like my life is just one big list of stuff i can't wait to do or achieve.

so...in honor of this tradition of creating new year's resolutions, i'm going to tweak the tradition slightly. instead of resolutions they will be My 2010 Solutions. just delete the prefix all together. its more positive and doesn't focus to much on what i would like to change. i already know those things. instead i'd like to think about how to make my goals happen.

tonight i'm going to generate my list of 2010 solutions.

oh and if you looking for some inspiration on lists... check it out.

Hotdish Hump Day: 12.16 | Cook: Michelle

Picture-4

Michelle's Southern Chili Hotdish

2 lbs. of ground beef
2 cans of diced tomatoes
1 medium diced onion
1 green diced pepper
1 clove of diced garlic
2 boxes of Jiffy corn bread (follow directions of corn bread mixture on box)
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Chili powered to taste (2 tablespoons works well)

Brown meat and season with salt and pepper. Mix in tomatoes, onion, pepper, garlic. Bring all to a simmer. In a large shallow casserole dish layer in the meat and veggie mixture. Top with corn bread mixture and bake at 350 degrees for about 30 to 35 minutes. Let corn bread turn golden brown. Let rest for 5 to 10mins and serve.

Wow no dairy and it still tasted good! This is a really low-fat meal that still has flavor. Adapt this recipe to your favorite chili mixture.

The group says I've redeemed myself from my last dish! yay!

Wow this is amazing. I came across daily drop cap via space 150's (which by the way is holding a logo redesign contest). The posts on Brand New seems to be a bit ridiculous. It is a bold for a creative agency to open themselves up to a design competition and hopefuls looking to work there would be stupid not to partake.

Space 150 looks to have a plug-in that posts entries from ideasareawesome.

If i have this right... ideasareawesome is searching the internet for tags with specific words they are following... but i'm not sure.

daily drop cap, an ongoing project by typographer and illustrator Jessica HischeJessica Hische. Great idea and love the work.

Periscope Holiday Party

NightFuzzy

Most of my pictures came out a little fuzzy... I think many woke up this morning a little fuzzy. I only had a few adult beverages, but I must say at Periscope we work hard and play hard. I really love where I work and I am very grateful for such a great place to come to each day.

I get to work with some amazing talent and amazing management. What a great party!

    Seriously

this whole social thing is crazy. before when someone said did you get my message... it meant voicemail... now it could me an a whole host of mediums. i don't blame some of my friends for wanting to take a step back from online social networking.

twitter is still a tool i'm trying to define. its seems like it is great for people you don't really know and may want to keep at an arms length. best quote of the day, "The list of the top 20 Twitter users reads like an episode of TMZ." So true.

facebook is like my online address book for people who i actually have meet in person and want to see their photos and daily happenings.

it seems like the more we communicate the more confusion there is.

Sites I've tried to simply my digital-self:
Threadsy (which in my opinion is the best right now)
Cotweet (seems a bit horsey and the few co-workers i've talked to don't like)
Tweetdeck (you have to download :(

And I am sure their are thousands more.
